Night on the town: Bar Louie in Hampton, Va.

It's funny how date nights can expand your palette. If you are anything like me and my hubby-to-be you are always on the hunt for a new place to eat or just a cool hang out spot. We love lounges & good food. It seems to be hard to come across in the Hampton Roads area, come to find out that is because you have to be in the know..lol  I don't know about you, but some of my best ideas come when I least expect it. I thought it would be fun to bring you guys along on the  journey, take the first look so to speak & let you guys know the hottest places to be around town & beyond.

How many nights have you wasted time trying to figure out where to go?

Bar Louie is located in Hampton, Va right in the heart of Towne Center. The atmosphere was bar like, but it wasn't over crowded and the overall feel was grown & sexy The food was good & the drinks were on point, the only thing that could us some fine tuning is wait time. It wasn't completely unbearable to stop me from appreciating their fine dining. Bar Louie is definitely a place I would go and visit again, you can go for a night out with the girls or a date night. Click here to find out if there is a location near you.

The process.

Highly recommend trying the Manhattan cocktail!

Entry was quite delicious. Voodoo chicken.

Don't always stick to the things that you know, go and explore you never know what you will find. I look forward to bringing you guys other spots around town & beyond. You never know where I will end up!

1.When did you fall in love with fashion?
I probably fell in love with fashion the day I could decipher between color and tone, so probably in kindergarten. When I was younger my mother always picked out my clothes and made sure I looked nice, even though there was always a battle between me wanting to wear jeans everywhere and my mom saying "no". From a very early age I always knew what I wanted to wear and knew that when you looked good you felt even better. I remember when I was seven or eight I had a little Barbie doll who I hand sewed a whole denim dress for and I was so proud to show everyone. Growing up and until now I had never been a very publicly emotional person so when I learned to use my style and the way I dressed as a sense of self expression, my appreciation for fashion grew even more. Now that I have my fashion blog where I spew out everything I feel about fashion from the latest trends that I love or great fashion DIYs I fall more and more in love every day.

2.Who/What are some of your fashion inspirations?
Aside from my mom who raised me to know how to match my clothing and always look presentable, I would have to say that my current fashion inspirations fall between Solange Knowles who is, in my opinion, the queen of print mixing, street style icon Mira Duma, Victoria Tornegren who makes the timeless black and white combination look different and intriguing every time they dawn her figure, and Kourtney Kardashian who can do no wrong to in the K-Dash Clan.

3. How would you describe your style?
I would honestly describe my style as forever changing, yet always expressive. Sometimes, I feel it is unfair to put yourself in box with numerous things in this world including fashion. I would like to think that my style is on a continuum where I could be super urban and street one day or very whimsical and feminine the next. Hahaha who knows? The next day I could be in a pair of sneakers with a flowy dress on.  My style options are endless. That's the best part. The fact that I can dress anyway I want to dress on any occasion. Its like forever playing dress up!

Monday beauty favs: Mascara

I have decided to add a little something extra to the blog. Each and every Monday I will be sharing some of my beauty favs. Like most girls, my favs will change like the wind, but I thought it would be a great idea to bring you guys along for the ride.

First up on my Monday beauty favs is mascara! Now I am not a fan of lashes and that is mostly on account that I have no earthly idea what I am doing, but I am working on that.  So with that being said mascara has become my best friend, because even though I cannot work with lashes right now I still love long & fabulous lashes.

Ok first up Rimmel Lash Accelorator, which by the way is my all time favorite right now. This mascara has been around for years, but in a world of overkill it is possible that you have never tried it.
This bad boy retails at around $5 or $6 at your local target store. Sephora is priced a little higher at $9.99. This is my favorite because it does exactly what I need it to do, it gives great length and fullness without being too heavy. I can honestly say that I have been a Maybelline type a girl for sometime, but it is nice to know that the grass is sometimes greener on the other side. lol

Next would have to be Maybelline's Great Lash blackest black in curved & straight.

These retail at around $4.99 or so they are very inexpensive & they get the job done. I like to use both because it helps me achieve the look I am going for, these are mostly for during the week when I am just going to work & less is best.

Last but no least, at the current moment Covergirl's Flamed out is in rotation.

This product retails at $5.99 at your local Tartget store & pretty much ranges the same in other retain locations. Covergirl says this product gives maximum volume instantly, bold winged-out lash look & is water resistant. Now what I can say is it is definitely a bold lash, as you can see the applicator is quite big & the product itself can be very thick, so in my personal opinion all you will need is one good coat of this and you will be ready to take over the world.

*Disclaimer* I was not paid to speak on these products. I purchase these products with my own money and simply sharing my opinion.

Style Stalked: Ehmonie

This weeks style stalked is a fashion & style blogger after my own heart. Chief in editor of www.whatshaute.com understands that for a woman to look her best she must first be equipped with the right tools.  Her site not only keeps you in the know of fashion trends, but its also a place where your fashion challenges are met with determination, sophistication & class. Describing her site as a fashion, beauty & lifestyle destination where you can find help for online shopping & personal style.

Are you up on what's haute???

1. When did you fall in love with fashion?
I've been in love with fashion for as long as I can remember! As a child, I would pull looks from my latest issue of Vogue magazine and hang them around my room for fashion inspiration. I'd create my own looks based on magazine editorials or from my favorite celebrity's style. I had all of my prom dresses custom made based on haute couture looks I saw in Vogue. Over the years I've always dabbled in the fashion industry in some way - most recently via my blogs. My love for fashion is something that will never end!

2. What/who is your style inspiration?
My personal style has been inspired by many people and things. Early on, my mom was my inspiration - I'd always be 'shopping' in her closet! Also, I've always had a strong love for accessories (bags, shoes and statement jewelry) so often my look is created around those. As far as celebrity style, back in high school I LOVED TLC so you'd catch me wearing oversized tees, funky hats, Cross Colors and sneakers. I was a bit of a tomboy. Currently, my celebrity style inspirations are Rihanna, Jenna Lyons and Solange Knowles. I love Rihanna because she's a style chameleon, Jenna for her ability to create cool, menswear-inspired looks and because everything she creates at J.Crew is fashion gold, and Solange for her modern retro style and her ability to mix prints better than anyone else!

3. How would you describe your style?
My style is eclectic. I love all fashion! One day you could find me in an edgy, 'downtown' look; the next day I could be in a pretty dress and heels; the next day, it could be a preppy look and the next something totally trendy. I've worn some pretty 'adventurous' things in the past so I'd definitely consider myself to be a fashion risk-taker as well.

Style Stalking: Gina

This weeks style stalked got me to thinking after I read up about her. She truly built her brand from the bottom and that got me to thinking about all of the other lovely ladies that I have featured on style stalking Fridays. This discovery has broaden my understanding of style. Style is not just the clothes, bags, shoes or accessories you were or how you were them, it is how you carry yourself. The professions that we chose dictate a lot about our style, but it doesn't have to completely overshadow who we are.

Gina is the owner of Glamhairus, an onsite beauty service that handles everything from your hair & makeup needs to wardrobe consulting. She understands what it means to feel & look your best, after all she made it her business.

1. When did you fall in love with fashion?
When wasn't I in love with fashion. I swear it's in my genes. As far back as I can remember the ladies in my family, especially my grandmother, have always super chic and trendy. Even at 91 she still shops at places like Aldo.
2. What or who are some of your fashion inspirations?
Of course Kim Kardashian and Lilly Ghalichi. I'm also inspired by these blogs... Atlantic Pacific, What Courtney Wore, Shea Loves Fashion
3. How would you describe your style?
Honestly it depends on the mood and where I'm going
